Travelling in Bloemfontein with a Rental Car

Founded in the 1840s, Bloemfontein has developed into one of the most charming cities in South Africa. A peaceful atmosphere with well planned streets and friendly locals all combine to make a visit to the city a pleasant one.

One great attraction in Bloemfontein is the National Museum, found near the centre of the city. Founded in 1877, the museum houses some great collections, focusing mainly on natural history, art and culture. There are lots of excellent displays which are perfect for entertaining the kids.

To take a step back in time, jump in your rental car and head a few hours east of the city, to Basotho Cultural Village. The village shows traditional life in the area how it was in the 16th century, while also showing how it has changed since then.

A short drive northwest from Bloemfontein is another great place to visit, which is the Soetdoring Nature Reserve. Lots of unique wildlife exists here, including springbok, wildebeest, impala, and wildcats, making it a great place to explore.
