Bari is the largest city of Apulia located in the southern part of Italy on the Adriatic Coast. This enchanting town is a wonderful destination filled with culture and history while capturing the romantic scenery of the coast. Bari is known as the exit doors of Italy at the ferry port, but Bari is much more than that. It has been restored over the past few years and is now considered to be one of the best kept secrets in Italy.

Make sure to travel to the ancient part of the city to capture the medieval significance of the city. Take a short drive to the beautiful medieval quarter locally called the Bari Vecchia. This quarter is considered to be a maze, however once you get your bearings it has wonderful surprises behind every corner. Within this small area there are 40 churches and more than 120 memorials.
If you can be in Bari on the 8th of May you will be rewarded with one of the most famous religious festivals in Southern Italy, which is celebrated in Bari in honour of Saint Nicholas. This festival is a re-enactment of the body of Saint Nicholas arriving by sea from Turkey in 1087.
