This route uses ferries to cut journey times – on this route you will cross the Clyde to Dunoon, go north to Loch Striven where you will find typical Cowal scenery of sea-lochs, with oak woods right down to the shoreline. Then head down the side of very scenic Kyles of Bute and discover fine views south of the island of Bute.
You can then take the Portavadie ferry for Kintyre and do the ‘Kilberry Loop’. More super views west to Islay and Jura where you could be treated to “Tea on the Beach” the world's only walkie-talkie cafe, where you can order your home-made cake and hot tea via walkie-talkie to be delivered to you in this idyllic spot. You can then return to Glasgow, driving all the way up Loch Fyne past Inveraray heading to the beauties of Loch Lomond.
